Who we are

Bag Desk buys Hermes handbags outright from private sellers in the United Kingdom. When you use the valuation form on this site we are the data controller for the information you send us.

What we collect, and why

Your name and mobile number

So a specialist can call you back with a figure. Without these we cannot value anything.

Your email address and postcode

Optional. The postcode tells us whether a buyer travels to you or we book a courier.

Photographs of the bag

To identify and price it, and to authenticate it. They are looked at by our valuation desk and by nobody else.

The bag's details

Model, size, leather, hardware, colour, condition, year and what comes with it. This is what the price is calculated from.

Anything you type in the notes field

Only what you choose to tell us.

How you arrived at this site

The search term, campaign and click identifier if you came from an advert, or the referring site. This tells us which adverts are worth paying for. It is not linked to you by name for that purpose.

Our lawful basis

For handling your valuation request we rely on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. You asked for a price, so we process what we need to give you one.

For measuring which adverts work we rely on legitimate interests, and where that involves cookies or similar technology we ask for your consent first.

If a purchase goes ahead we also process identity and proof of ownership to meet our legal obligations around handling second-hand goods.

Hosts this site and stores the enquiry. Servers in the EU and the United States.

Sends the enquiry to our desk by email.

Google

If you arrived from a Google advert, Google is told that an enquiry happened so the advert can be measured. This only happens if you accept advertising cookies.

We do not sell your information, we do not share it with other bag dealers, and we do not add you to a marketing list you did not ask for.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to a purchase are kept for twelve months, so we can recognise you if you come back, and then deleted.

Where a purchase goes ahead we keep the record for six years, which is what tax and second-hand goods rules require.

Photographs are deleted with the enquiry. They are never published, listed or used in advertising without asking you first.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to us using it. Write to us at the email above and we will answer within one month.

If you are not happy with how we have handled it you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Keeping it safe

The site runs over HTTPS. Enquiries are stored in access-controlled storage and reach our desk by email. Photographs are shrunk in your browser before they are sent, so the original files never leave your phone.
