Terms
The terms on which we buy. Short, because there is not much to it: we quote, you decide, and nothing is binding on you at any point.

What this site is
Bag Desk buys Hermes handbags outright from private sellers in the United Kingdom. This site is where you send photographs and get an indicative figure. It is not a shop and nothing here is offered for sale.
The estimate is not an offer
The figure the calculator shows is an estimate based only on what you typed. It is not an offer and we are not bound by it.
A firm offer is made by a specialist after seeing your photographs. That offer stands until we have seen the bag in person, and changes only if the bag is materially different from the photographs, in which case we tell you why and you are free to walk away.
What we require
- A complete set
- The bag, its key, its box and the original receipt. We do not buy incomplete sets.
- Clear ownership
- You must own the bag outright and have the right to sell it.
- Proof of identity and address
- Required on every purchase. This is a legal requirement for dealing in second-hand goods, not a formality.
- Authentication
- Every bag is authenticated in person before payment. If it does not hold up we stop, tell you plainly, and there is no charge.
Payment
Payment is made by Faster Payments to a UK bank account in your name. The 2 hour figure quoted on this site is measured from the moment the bag is authenticated in person, on a UK banking day.
Nothing is deducted from the agreed figure. There is no commission, no fee and no charge for travel, collection or authentication.
The bag remains yours until the payment shows in your account.
No obligation
Asking for a valuation commits you to nothing. You may stop at any point up to the moment the money is transferred, and you do not need to give a reason.
Trade marks
Hermes, Birkin, Kelly and Constance are trade marks of Hermes International. We are not affiliated with, authorised by or connected to Hermes International. We use those names only to describe the items we buy, which is permitted for a buyer of genuine second-hand goods.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
